A look back: March 13, 2008
If you have never bought a house, it's really hard to understand what it feels like to pick up the keys to your own home for the first time. I have moved a lot in my life, and each place was unique and new. But this is our first home. The excitement, the pride, the specialness of that day and the first time we opened the door with our own keys will never be forgotten.
Less then a week later we were completely moved in. 90% of our belongings was crammed into three small closets (the furniture didn't fit) and we were prepping for the next hurdle: a permit.
Before we left I took this picture looking out the living room window at the lights of Daly City and San Francisco. Maybe not the oceanview we would have had with our first attempt, but still pretty impressive, especially at night.
The house is one of many Doelger homes built in the area. Yeah, they are tract style developments and the houses fall into just a handful of designs, but at least they were built with pride. I've lived in a lot of "modern" suburban developments, but after all is said and done I have never seen a sign of the quality the developer embraced so prominent in the house.
